therefore arise out of sheer practice.

Of course we welcome everyone who books a trip with us.

You will take with you unique experiences from our tours !

TOUR PREPARATIONS

Maps:

You need good maps. The best one is the so-called Green Map (topographical maps, scale 1: 50,000). Green Map you can buy from us or we order it from our supplier.

Weather:

Weather is an important factor in the planning and implementation of a large tour. If you choose a route such as Tour 01 Björkenäs Ed it can be paddling five days against the wind.

For persistent southerly wind, it makes sense to start the tour in Ed and paddle north towards Björkenäs.

The weather can be found here: www.klart.se or www.smhi.se , these 5-day forecasts are actually very reliable. Especially for a trip on Lake Vänern, the weather is very crucial.

Boats:

Boats You can hire all over Sweden. But beware, there are mostly canoe rentals. Canoes are very susceptible to wind which is, here on the Great Lakes, a crucial disadvantage when the wind is up. Linder canoes made of aluminum are often offered here for rental.

These are extremely robust, but their high design is also very susceptible to wind.

It is better to use so-called hiking kayaks or folding kayaks for 1-2 persons.

Above all, these boats react more comfortably than a canoe in wind and waves.

Even the luggage and food for 2 people easily fit in a good touring kayak or folding kayak.

Of course we also hire kajaker, folding kayaks and kayaks.

Equipment

A difficult theme. As a beginner, you should not go for the most expensive equipment or gadgets of any established dealers. This year we met with a client who had bought an expensive water filter from an outdoor shop in Germany, where the seller had stated that it was imperative to have in Sweden.

Useless to say that the lakes in this area have drinkwater quality.

Spend the night:

In general, here in Sweden the "Allemansrätten" (right of public access) is valid. In the DANO country (Dalsland - Nordmarken) or in the Glaskogen Nature Reserve, groups of 6 or more must always use the existing resting places. For this purpose, a nature conservation card has to be bought in advance, which allows the use of the resting areas.

Such a resting place is usually equipped with a shelter for sleeping, a fire place and most of the times with a toilet. Firewood is also stored on site.

It is therefore worthwhile even for smaller groups to use these resting places .
